I just want to let the visitors of my Blog know that there was a kind of mediatic storm related to the diary I posted on Daily Kos (*) yesterday.
The DK diary, titled “Zionism was and remains a racist ideology” proposed a brilliant article by Ahlam Akram (read the article below) with 2 of my cartoons (the 2 images exhibited at the top of this post). The diary had a very strong impact on the Daily Kos community and I got in a few hours hundreds of hateful comments by enraged Zionists.
To make things clear I chose to use the striking portrait of Avigdor Lieberman to illustrate this precise part of Ahlam Akram’s article: “When Avigdor Lieberman publicly calls for "Transfer", which means total expulsion of all non Jewish people including Israeli citizens with non Jewish origins; what does that means if not ethnic cleansing?” (read the full article at the end of this Blog post).
The article by Ahlam Akram I had inserted with my images was removed after a few minutes, due to so called “copyright violation”, according to a note left by a certain "MissLaura", and all the personal settings of my Daily Kos account were quickly under the administrator’s control (they, for instance, changed the initial tags “Israel”, “Palestine”, “Avigdor Lieberman”, “Ahlam Akram” and “Zionism” into the tag "troll diary", and prevented me to answer to the 545 (until now) odious comments.
It’s sad to say, but this event will surely have bad consequences on Daily Kos' so called liberal reputation.
I wonder now if Daily Kos is as much progressive and liberal as it claims to be. I rather have the feeling that it is ruled by Zionists.
My political cartoons, as you all know by now, aim to defend the Palestinian causes and denounce the Israeli/Zionist crimes. They do not have anti-Semitic contents. Criticizing the disastrous Israeli policy in
I think I'll be banned from this pseudo democratic site and won't be able to post anything more there. It’s a pity because I didn't have the chance to express all the things I wanted. To be honest with you, I indented to post this image in my next diary :
Here is what Steve Amsel from DesertPeace has written about this Lieberman cartoon controversy :
.
.
I along with a few others, including Benjamin Heine, were recently asked to cross-post on a site called Daily Kos. It seemed an honour at the time, a chance to be read by more people on a daily basis. My first post there was not accepted graciously by the readers there, my second post was literally attacked by the zionist elements there. It is not my intention here, on my own blog, nor there to engage in debate with these people. Fine to disagree with what I have to say, but at least read it.
Benjamin posted there yesterday for the first time. He was literally 'tarred and feathered' for what he posted. One reader had the gall to comment "How could you put a Nazi face on a Jew?" To that I answer.... HOW CAN A JEW ACT LIKE A NAZI??
The text that went with his post was censored after receiving over 400 nasty comments. If censorship is the game the zionists wish to play, fine... it's their site, their rules. But to lie about the reasons is another question... to claim it was censored because of copyright violation is absurd. The author's name and source were clearly printed in the introduction. It is obvious that the guilty zionists felt targeted and reacted.
Ben apparently has been banned at Daily Koss... rendering his post to the trolling section. The image of Lieberman which they originally left up after removing the text of his post has finally been removed as well. I suppose that was another copyright violation. Are the zionists that afraid of the truth?
The conclusion I reach is that Daily Kos is not the progressive site I thought it was. It is top heavy with zionists and obviously just another organ of the lobby. They cannot and will not stop the message of truth. Benjamin's personal message appears in the images he creates. They can be seen on his blogsite. His defense is his honesty and integrity. Daily

Those who read Ressentiment regularly know that I have a love hate relationship with DailyKos. Just like any political comment site there are lots of people you don't agree with, but hopefully you learn something from different points of view.
It's been clear to me and others for a long time that the Zionists at Daily Kos do not appreciate peace activists agitating for justice for

What follows is one of the only relevant comment that was added this afternoon amongst the 500 other despising ones (Thank you "chebene" ) :

"It is cowardice to have removed the text of this diary. There is a very good case to be made that Zionism is a pernicious ideology. It seems to me that the DKos community is cannibalizing itself, shutting off debate on a very topical issue, in order to please the right wingers at the Digg blog.
You are cowering before the right wing propaganda, instead of debating the issue on our own terms. You are making the same mistake that losing Democratic candidates have always made - from Dukakis to Gore to Kerry: you take the consensus opinion as a fact of nature that you must adapt your views to, rather than as something that needs to be changed in order to bring the debate closer to the facts.
Of course, even many DKos members are blindly pro-Israel, and use the sophistical tactic of accusing critics of Israeli policy of being anti-semitic.
The biggest problem with DKos is the mob mentality, which can, as in this case, prove to be decidedly cowardly."

Zionism and the Creation of Israel
By Ahlam Akram (*)
.I am not going to argue whether or not
But let's not forget that those houses were not empty; yet
You ask me about the role of Zionism and the establishment of the Jewish state. Do I care about it? I cannot say I do. I know that Zionism started in 18.. something, long before the Jewish tragedy of the holocaust; and that anti Semitism and the holocaust together have drawn sympathy for
But I also understand and know that there was a nakba - a catastrophe - which culminated in the expulsion of the Palestinian people through acts of terrorism and barbarism, documented by Jewish writers like Avi Shliem and Benny Morris. Indeed, according to Benny Morris there were 18 more massacres perpetrated by Jewish forces between 1947 and 1949 than what is generally known.
People, who had nothing to do with the tragedy of the Jewish holocaust, still suffer a continuous tragedy even now. Those people - my people – those from whom I originally came prior to my own exile and subsequent emigration. My family still lives under the threat of being expelled for no crime whatsoever except that they were born Palestinians and demand their equal rights.
So to ask me to understand Zionism is like asking a rape victim to understand the rapist. We are survivors of that horror.
And for us, how did we see Zionism?
It was and remains a racist ideology that allows Jews from anywhere in the world to go to today's Israel, which is still Palestine in our souls, and to claim superior rights to the land at the expense of the indigenous non-Jewish Palestinians. Using military governments to carry on discriminatory racist policies and settle by force, Jews have come from all over the world in the remaining 22 % that should belong to us in the West Bank and
What is happening in the occupied territories is but a violation of
Although I can empathise with Jewish fears today from any threat of repeat of such a horrible genocide as the holocaust was, I cannot condone this fear. For today the State of Israel is strong. It possesses the fifth strongest army in the world and is a nuclear power. It also has the support of the entire West and above all the support of the
I believe that God created the land for all His people and we the Palestinians are not of a lesser God. Yet, for some people, Zionism was about creating a just, progressive and humane society based on "Jewish” values and the need to feel safe as a nation. But the reality is that the right wing fundamentalist Zionism has overrun any idea of a progressive and humane society based on "Jewish" values.
Where and how can I see Jewish values while the Palestinian trauma goes on and on under the pretence of national security and the constant fear from the repetition of the trauma? Israeli exaggeration makes it justifiable and acceptable to expel, torture, and oppress my own loved ones.
Is it the desperate need to have a national identity that keeps the militarisation of that identity? Is it that desperate need that is causing over determination and rigidity of identity and leading to the fortification of the settlement and of the soul?
From a psychoanalytical point of view, the human identity is always unstable, on the move capable of transformation. And after 60 years I do truly wonder why must
Israeli Governments have violated the international law, but most importantly the moral grounds that earned Jews international sympathy.
When Avigdor Lieberman publicly calls for "Transfer", which means total expulsion of all non Jewish people including Israeli citizens with non Jewish origins; what does that means if not ethnic cleansing?
The besieging of Palestinian cities and villages and the continuous increase of settlements buildings are other manifestations of ethnic cleansing. There are 600 checkpoints and only 24 of them are between
Then there is the wall which is
So you ask me how I feel about Zionism and Jewish State? We are all enslaved in the 2,500 year-old concept of nation state.
In an interdependent world, today’s biggest threats are poverty and fundamentalism. Islamic fundamentalism and extremism; Neo-conservative evangelism that encourages Jews to go back to the biblical land so that the Christ returns; and the Israeli settler ideology that gives him the exclusive right to the land as a biblical right.
Today it is our responsibility to safeguard our global future, to work together and support the rights of both people for a two states solution.
The conflict is between two different people with different national identities and aspirations, and each of the two people places the highest value on a national state of their own.
After separating the two people - perhaps after 100 years, although I hope less - movement from the two states to a federation or a confederation could happen. Such a transition is beginning to be seen, in spite of the discrimination and oppression in today's
It is time to end the bloodshed and we should do that from the perspective of our responsibility to common humanity.
More independent Jewish voices are needed at this stage, and a European contribution might be of a great value to change
What is needed is a political solution that truly conforms to universal human rights and international law; a solution that will restore to
God knows that we have committed the unforgivable. Then let us consider the words of the Algerian-French/Jewish-Arab philosopher Jacques Derrida: “only when it is impossible to forgive, can forgiveness take place. Now that we have gone beyond all limits, let us begin to forgive by using the skills and wisdom that God bestowed on us to build a better future for ALL our children: a future of mutual acknowledgement and mutual respect, equality and forgiveness”.

Markos Moulitsas -- a.k.a. "kos" -- created Daily Kos on May 26, 2002, in those dark days when an oppressive and war-crazed administration suppressed all dissent as unpatriotic and treasonous. As a veteran, Moulitsas was offended that the freedoms he pledged his life for were so carelessly being tossed aside by the reckless and destructive Republican administration.
Daily Kos has grown in those five years to the premier political community in the United States, with traffic of about 600,000 daily visits. (Click on the rainbow box at the bottom of the page for up-to-date stats.) Among luminaries posting diaries on the site are President Jimmy Carter, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and dozens of other senators, congressmen, and governors. But, even more exciting than that, tens of thousands of regular Americans have used Daily Kos to lend their voice to a political world once the domain of the rich, connected, and powerful.
Daily Kos is run by a staff of two -- Moulitsas and a programmer. In 2007, parent company Kos Media, LLC began a fellowship program to help fund a new generation of progressive activists. About a dozen contributing editors contribute content for the site, with 3-4 new editors being chosen from the Daily Kos community every year. (Source : Daily Kos)

Markos Moulitsas was born on September 11, 1971, in Chicago, IL. The son of a Salvadoran mother and Greek father, Moulitsas spent his formative years in El Salvador (1976-1980), where he saw first-hand the ravages of civil war. His family fled threats on their lives by the communist guerillas and settled in the Chicago area.
After high school, Moulitsas served in the U.S. Army (1989-92) as a 13P -- Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Fire Direction Specialist. He trained at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and served the remainder of his three-year enlistment in Bamberg, Germany. While he entered the Army as a Republican, he abandoned the GOP soon after his enlistment.
Moulitsas earned two bachelor degrees at Northern Illinois University (1992-96), with majors in Philosophy, Journalism, and Political Science and a minor in German. He subsequently earned a J.D. at Boston University School of Law (1996-99) before deciding that it would be a cold day in hell before he ever worked as a lawyer.
He headed West to the San Francisco Bay Area to make his dot.com millions but got nowhere. He worked as a project manager at a web development shop when, in 2002, he started Daily Kos. Moulitsas flirted with political consulting in 2003 before deciding that 1) he hated it, and 2) he didn't need to do it. Daily Kos was making enough revenues to allow him to blog full-time, which he still does today.
In addition to running Kos Media, LLC, which publishes Daily Kos, Moulitsas is also founder of the SB Nation network of sports blogs, and co-founder of Vaster Books. He's an avid pianist and composer. He is co-author of the critically acclaimed book Crashing the Gate: Netroots, Grassroots, and the Rise of People-Powered Politics. He was named one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the world by People en Español, clocked in at third in Forbe's Web Celeb 25 rankings, and was listed 26th in PC World's list of the "Most Important People on the Web".
Moulitsas has been happily married since 2000. He has a wonderful toddler, Aristotle, and another child (sex unknown) is scheduled to hit the scene in early April. (Source : Daily Kos)

Wow, you created quite a stir. Good for you. It needs to be said and I support you 100%
Ben,
When I learned from Servant that you were going to post at DK it seemed odd to me. Then I thought that Kos was may be opening a bit and cheered for the transformation. To tell you the truth, I never read the US's most prominent so called Democratic blogs like Huffington and Kos. They are so mainstream and so boring. More from me on this later.
Give it 3 days, Ben, and I am sure you will rise again! ;>)
Thanks Graeme. I was very disappointed by DK. My 2 first diaries there were really well received, with encouraging comments. Then there was this Lieberman cartoon controversy. This had the effect of a storm. I'm glad I shaked all the stereotypes of the DK contributors. Thank you also for posting a report about this story on your site.
Ser, it's even more sad, if thousands of other people were banned there!
That's the problem with this site. How can you have a constructive and objective debate around the current problem in the Middle East if the people who want to express their opinions (as stiking as it can be with my political cartoons) are censored after a few hours? I didn't open an account at Daily Kos to make friends but to convey messages with my graphics to a larger "progressive" public and to crosspost particularly brilliant essays found on the Web or sent to me.
As I told you, I don't consider you as a Judas... and I'm not Jesus Christ.
But Sophia, I actually was "invited" by notorious Daily Kos contributors to crosspost things there, it wasn't my personal choice. Anyway, the DK Zionist network had decided I couldn't be part of their so called liberal galaxy.
Thanks Mark, but it's not so sure.
Well, Ben, you know my thoughts about these pampered Liberals in the USA. Whether or not it is a Zionist conspiracy I don't know. As a regular poster to the old Yahoo news message boards, I found that coplex subjects brought out the most polarized elements. People who might agree with you are less likely to make a comment. Those who don't take the opportunity to attack--and in a very foul manner. They feel the anonymity of the Internet gives them the freedom to act like abusive asses. In person, they would not act this way because, more likely than not, they would get their asses kicked. Morons are a lot like skinheads. They run in packs. You have now seen the infamous black and white American world view. Nuance and subtlety are not very well grasped here.
I found it amusing that many on Kos were frantic that Fascists and right-wingers would link to your images. By censoring you, they only succeeded in acting LIKE Fascists and looking very foolish.
Do you remember in my interview that you did? Remember the bit about political correctness being the death of political art? You are now the victim of it. The fear the something MIGHT offend someone supersedes rational thought and free speech. This is something the wacko Right-Wing in the US are correct about. Liberals, in my opinion, are useless to any real political revolution.
Ben,
I have been browsing the blogosphere since I read this post. My first impression was that your censoring at Kos was due to one of these:
- Regular censorship due to difference of views and fear for the site's standing among the mainstream in the US for your anti-Israel view;
- A planned Guet-Apen i n order to discredit your work and your rising influence in the blogosphere.
After browsing avidly the web in search of confirmation for one thesis or the other I ended up inclining for the second thesis and here is why:
1) I had a similar, albeit less mediatic personal experince of the sort on the blogosphere a year ago. One day some bloggers, but a particular one started popping up on my blog telling me how great I am and linking to my blog. However, very quickly they were mirroring my pro-Palestinian posts on their own blogs and drawing comments from other bloggers negative to the arguments advanced in my posts and when I tried to defend my arguments in the comment section on their own blogs, they tried to discredit me openly. IThe operation took place over a four months period at the end of which I delinked these bloggers and stopped visiting their blogs. This is a subtle demolition work. However, I soon suspected what was going on and it didn't affect my blog because it was contained and managed by myself once I became aware of their attempts. I, now and then, witness many attempts like this on the blogosphere, They are the speciality of cyberzionists.
2) Many cyberzionists when they approach you proclaim first to be pro-Palestinian, like you. They even maintain pro-Palestinian blogs and make you think that they are in the same business as you. However, these people are on the blogosphere only to destruct effective pro-Palestinian blogs.
3) I found a similar story to yours of censorship at Kos and it wa directed at Jewish activist whose views Kos didn't like.
4) I was really surprised when I knew that you were going to blog at Kos. These are the most conformist people at the blogosphere and I really thought taht they were opening up. I was of course naive. The fact that Rico wrote a shameful post in his diary asking Kos adminstrators to censor your posts which he treated as right wing and so on seems to me a proof that the operation was planned.
5) One thing emerges for me from all this: Ben you are making a difference and this is why you were targeted to write at Kos in order to be discredited and banned.
All this should make you more confident and at the same time more cautious.
Servant,
Do you really think Ben needs to "crucify" himself? For what, an ego boost? If he was asked to post, it seems to me to be more of a set up, for the reasons Sophia lists. Someone clearly see's Ben's work as a threat.
Ben:
I don't understand how, after you were invited to post on Daily Kos, you somehow were then banned from posting? Were you invited by someone on the Daily Kos staff? It doesn't make sense.
Sophia, warm thanks for your bright research.
I wouldn’t expect such wicked strategies from Cyberzionists
Your hypothesis help a lot to understand this issue.
If the Guet-Apen you are talking about reveals to be true, then I’ll have to make cartoons about that.
From now on, I’ll be indeed more cautious, but I’ll never stop drawing in favour of the oppressed ones, particularly the Palestinians.
By the way, I’m sorry for what happened to you on the blogosphere.
PS : Do you have, by chance, an url to this post by Rico?
David, thanks for these interesting views. I'm not sure neither that we deal with a Zionist conspiracy, but the problem is that none of the critical comments left at DK referred to Ahlam Akram article or even to the message conveyed by the striking Lieberman's portrait.
Below is a comment that was posted by an anonymous on DesertPeace's Blog. It's well written and gives another perspective of the issue :

Notwithstanding the above, here is a danger that old ideas, can get in the way of innovation, and new constructs. This danger summed up, can be seen as the notions prevalent in the Main Stream Media (whatever this phrase may mean) is getting superimposed on the innovative cybernetic methods of exchange of ideas!
Analogous to the so called satanic churches, that having adopted the symbolism of the standard church, then utilise the same symbols but with a twist of 180 degrees, turning these upside down. The absurdity then extends to borrowing the payers of the standard church, only to utter it backwards. Evidently Satan decrees contrary behaviour as a matter of course, and default behaviour of Satanist ought to include drying up first, and getting a shower after, so he/she can satisfy the contrary Lord of the universe, or is that nether regions?
Daily Kos having two million readers, no longer meets its remit of remaining independent and free. In fact this clearly shows the incorporation and high jack of a good idea, and turning into a putrid and rotten construct, while proclaiming independence. While behaving very much as any one of culprits from the plethora of the Zionist sponsored rags, and media currently available.
'Progressive', 'Left', 'Independence', are but, semantics for the fools whom as yet neither have understood the scope of the cybernetic exchange of ideas, nor the impact of such transaction on the said exchange of ideas.
The notion of the competition of ideas, these days has been reduced to a narrow, and obtuse interpretation of an echo chamber, that only reflects the success, or failure of the main stream media by synthesis of the cybernetic exchange of ideas, into a feed back.
This contention can be easily deduced through the withdrawal of the posts, and or cartoons in Daily Kos, and elsewhere in the cyberspace. Competition cannot be based on constraints, and filtering of the competing ideas. This conduct by default narrows the field, and results in affording the weak absurdities, a longer shelf life, than these weak abstractions deserve.
However, the sad fact remains, that the readers, instead of boycotting the site, still carry on reading, fully ware that the site is engaged in censorship.
Censorship by default wreaks of feudal pathos, that deems the recipients incapable of discerning the good from bad, and or untrue from the fact, as well as having little faith in the recipients judgement, by considering the probable impact of such information on their behaviour, and or actions.
As we all know, the Semitic Supremacists are fully aware of the absurdities of their ideology, as well as the weakness of their doctrinal beliefs. Further, by default any supremacists bunch, consider all those from without their catchment constituency to be subhuman, moronic entities incapable of discerning the realities these face. In other words, the conflation of anti Semitism (a grave charge evidently) and anti Zionism, is a control construct, that is designed to wrong foot the critics, and compel these to explain their stance, as to lack of any malice towards a group of people, as opposed to a virulent and corrupt ideology that is reliant on Nationalism/Tribalism as any other nationalist movement included the Nazi ideology.
Therefore, the honour of having been banned, by Daily Kos, itself should satiate the authors vanity. For these could have been one of the many lickspittles whom are regularly featured in such sites. Further, the notion of putting up with replying to the charges of anti Semitism, ought to be dispensed with, in the face of the current mandatory pro Semitic zeitgeist. The simple fact remains, until such time that there is an international 'hug a Jew day' is decreed, no one need to explain away their motive in confronting the evils of Zionism.
Finally, murder is flat wrong, lying is flat wrong, deceiving is flat wrong, coveting thy neighbours lands is flat wrong, oppressing the weak is flat wrong, genocide is flat wrong, and no tribe, person, or entity can claim especial dispensations for committing these wrongs, regardless of their colour, faith, tribe, or standing.

William,
I was indeed invited by an ex notorious DK member, but not one of the mastheads. For his own privacy, I won't reveal his name.
Ben,
Here is the LINK to the Rico's post I referred to in my previous comment.
If you want to discuss this story through email with me I will be more than happy to help (you can find my email in my profile section). I am pretty sure the person who did this to you is someone you trust and you should review your dealings with this person in light of all this.
Take care,

Ben,
I am coming this discussion bit late but I have sensed the phenomenon which Sophia outlined in the net already! In fact, I have noticed people with extreme reactionary views posting even at your site! I do also share Sophia’s thesis that these images have been in your blog for a while know and the people at Daily Kos and the person who invited you in particular must have known these images and also the article itself. So why the panic and crude censorship after posting your diary there unless, as Sophia has suggested, that whole thing was a set up?
P/S. terms such as “big conspiracy” theories are carefully crafted rhetorical strategy designed to disarm and discrete people; why do people need conspiracy theories when the facts as they exist on the grounds are crude enough?
