#OwnTheTwilight - Ben Heine Photography with Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Photographer Ben Heine was one of the 10 Samsung ambassadors in Belgium who participated in the Galaxy S7 #ownthetwilight campaign meant to show the capacities of the S7 camera for capturing low light photos (something most phones really suffer with) thanks to its brighter F1.7 lens and larger 1.4µm pixels on the image sensor. This makes evening and night-time shots look less murky and more detailed and brighter.

View here below some of the photos taken by Ben Heine with the Samsung S7 Edge smartphone. The campaign lasted 4 months from April to July 2016 (The 9 other campaign launchers were David OlkarnySam De BruynCedric DumontDisco NaivetéTom WaesVinz KantéAmélie LensElisabeth Ouni and Kristof Claes)

I'm really happy to let you know that Theo, my son, was born the 12th of August 2012. He is big and tall and super cute. I'm a father, I can't believe it. Tagore said: "Every child born is a sign that God is not yet discouraged of man".

No more violence! This work is dedicated to the 5 killed and 125 wounded people in the recent gun and grenade attack in Liège (Belgium). Weapons are useless. I ripped the paper and held it in a different way so that it works with my drawing... You can view some details and the work in progress (part of it) here below. Pencil Vs Camera - 42

There is a baby in everyone of us. I actually wanted to draw the little child inside her head, but I finally decided to make it become the flower of an imaginary plant, still connected to the precious woman. Dedicated to Marta. Please, see the whole "Pencil Vs Camera" album.

Childhood

By Michael Jackson

Have you seen my childhood?
I’m searching for the world that I come from
’cause I’ve been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart...
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities...
’cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me...

People say I’m not okay
’cause I love such elementary things...
It’s been my fate to compensate,
For the childhood
I’ve never known...

Have you seen my childhood?
I’m searching for that wonder in my youth
Like pirates in adventurous dreams,
Of conquest and kings on the throne...

Before you judge me, try hard to love me,
Look within your heart then ask,
Have you seen my childhood?

People say I’m strange that way
’cause I love such elementary things,
It’s been my fate to compensate,
For the childhood I’ve never known...

Have you seen my childhood?
I’m searching for that wonder in my youth
Like fantastical stories to share
The dreams I would dare, watch me fly...

Before you judge me, try hard to love me.
The painful youth I’ve had

Have you seen my childhood...

Give Me a
Time to Run

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Give me a time to run
I'm so much in my freedom
Life is of sadness and fun
Contributing ways asylum
Gladness gives me laughter
Sadness only its deep pain
What is this existence after?
Where shall they both reign?

Tomorrow is always coming
Giving its time to share
Some of it is just benumbing
Without its street's fare
Life has its ups and down
With its beauty and ugliness
Each can become a hometown
With its many penurious

Give me a time to laugh
Everything becomes easier
Sometimes it isn't enough
When life gets much breezier
Give muddy bosom - sunset
For golden it will become
If futures in equals are meet
To blooms of the earth some

My Mother's
Womb

.
.
Before I Knocked
.
By Dylan Thomas (*)

Before I knocked and flesh let enter,
With liquid hands tapped on the womb,
I who was as shapeless as the water
That shaped the Jordan near my home
Was brother to Mnetha's daughter
And sister to the fathering worm.

I who was deaf to spring and summer,
Who knew not sun nor moon by name,
Felt thud beneath my flesh's armour,
As yet was in a molten form
The leaden stars, the rainy hammer
Swung by my father from his dome.

I knew the message of the winter,
The darted hail, the childish snow,
And the wind was my sister suitor;
Wind in me leaped, the hellborn dew;
My veins flowed with the Eastern weather;
Ungotten I knew night and day.

As yet ungotten, I did suffer;
The rack of dreams my lily bones
Did twist into a living cipher,
And flesh was snipped to cross the lines
Of gallow crosses on the liver
And brambles in the wringing brains.

My throat knew thirst before the structure
Of skin and vein around the well
Where words and water make a mixture
Unfailing till the blood runs foul;
My heart knew love, my belly hunger;
I smelt the maggot in my stool.

And time cast forth my mortal creature
To drift or drown upon the seas
Acquainted with the salt adventure
Of tides that never touch the shores.
I who was rich was made the richer
By sipping at the vine of days.

I, born of flesh and ghost, was neither
A ghost nor man, but mortal ghost.
And I was struck down by death's feather.
I was a mortal to the last
Long breath that carried to my father
The message of his dying christ.

You who bow down at cross and altar,
Remember me and pity Him
Who took my flesh and bone for armour
And doublecrossed my mother's womb.

(*) Dylan Marlais Thomas (1914 - 1953) was a Welsh poet. He is regarded by many as one of the 20th century's most influential poets. In addition to poetry, Thomas also wrote short stories and scripts for film and radio, with the latter frequently performed by Thomas himself. His public readings, particularly in America, won him great acclaim; his booming, at times ostentatious, voice with a subtle Welsh lilt, became almost as famous as his works. Read more.
