Spirals have no end. Our galaxy is a spiral. Love is a spiral! This is a long exposure shot I made while I was walking by night (actually very early in the morning) towards Santiago de Compostela... It was the last day before we reached the magic city. I'll never forget that moment. More photos soon. :D The above picture has been shot with the Samsung NX11, provided by Samsung Electronics. Co., Ltd.

(A picture taken a bit before San Juan de Ortega)

I started walking the Pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela ("Way of St. James") in Puente la Reina the 7th of August 2011 and I arrived in Santiago (Galicia, Spain) the 27th of August. I followed the official camino in Logrono. All together, I walked more than 650 km. The landscapes I discovered were breathtaking and changing everyday. I met crazy people on the way. People with a great soul. I took photos every minute. I'll share the best of them shortly. I did this walk for spiritual reasons only and because I needed a break to think about my future.

The Way of St. James has existed for over a thousand years. It was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during medieval times, together with Rome and Jerusalem. Here below is the "Compostela", a certificate of accomplishment given to pilgrims on completing the Way. I received it when I arrived at the Cathedral of Santiago. It's in Latin! Call me "Beniaminum" from now on! :)

Made for "Art Official Concept", an art gallery based in Cape Verde (the small location spotted on the above world map)... I'll make 10 Pencil Vs Camera creations for "Art Official Concept". See the whole Pencil Vs Camera Album.

More facts: The Republic of Cape Verde is an island country, spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands located in the central Atlantic Ocean, 570 kilometres off the coast of Western Africa. The islands, covering a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres. The previously uninhabited islands were discovered and colonized by the Portuguese in the 15th Century, and became an important location in the Atlantic slave trade due to their geographically advantageous position. The islands' prosperity often attracted pirates including Sir Francis Drake, who twice sacked the (then) capital Ribeira Grande, in the 1580s. The islands were also visited by Charles Darwin's expedition in 1832.

Cape Verde has a rich cultural heritage influenced by continents like Africa, South America and Europe. This heritage is reflected in the country's literature, poetry, cuisine, its dance and its famous national song, the Morna, represented worldwide by the famous Cesária Évora.

Adventure

A poem by Steven Curtis Lance

Adventure awaits us
And misadventure too
Daily life debates us
Challenging us to do
That which we cannot bear

That is unless we dare
To cross over borders
Transcending disorders
Defying our own past
To find the now at last

Adventure awaits us
And misadventure too
But destiny fates us
To do what we must do
To get from here to there

And where is there? To be
Within the now and free
