The other woman walking in the distance is an important element in the composition of this picture. The guy on the rocks is attracted by a beautiful but fake holy creature. In my view, the person with the red backpack symbolizes the real and genuine LOVE... but it is actually going away from him. Hopefully he will take the right decision before it's too late (it's just my own interpretation, I understand you might see something completely different, I even encourage this!). See the full Pencil Vs Camera album.
I took the above photo during my trip in Spain, while I was walking the "Camino de Santiago de Compostela" (I made some 700 hundreds kilometers in a few weeks and met some amazing pilgrims). I also made the drawing. You can view here below the sketch in progress, some details and the same scene from another angle.

The road never ends. Believe in your future. This is another photo I took during my pilgrimage towards Santiago de Compostela. Beautiful memories. The above picture has been shot with the Samsung NX11 (Samsung Electronics. Co., Ltd). In memory of Steve Jobs, the man who changed everybody's life. RIP...

"There are no problems, only solutions." Keep walking, keep following your path. Don't pay attention to the people that want you to disappear, just see the positive things happening in your life! This is a photo I took a few kilometers before I arrived to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain.
These boots were left behind by an anonymous person... Lots of random objects can be found along the Camino, this is mainly because the pilgrims want to throw away their heavy belongings so that they can walk faster... The person walking is a girl (not a boy) with a huge pilgrim bag! "Cariño" in Spanish means "Darling" in English. The above picture has been shot with the Samsung NX11, provided by Samsung Electronics. Co., Ltd.

An amazing man I met during my recent trip in Spain. He didn't talk, he didn't move, but I knew he wanted me to take photos of him... The sheeps and clouds behind were in the perfect position. I was lucky to be there. The above picture has been shot with the Samsung NX11 (Samsung Electronics. Co., Ltd). If you wish, you can view a random detail HERE.

Spirals have no end. Our galaxy is a spiral. Love is a spiral! This is a long exposure shot I made while I was walking by night (actually very early in the morning) towards Santiago de Compostela... It was the last day before we reached the magic city. I'll never forget that moment. More photos soon. :D The above picture has been shot with the Samsung NX11, provided by Samsung Electronics. Co., Ltd.

Way of St. James

I started walking the Pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela ("Way of St. James") in Puente la Reina the 7th of August 2011 and I arrived in Santiago (Galicia, Spain) the 27th of August. I followed the official camino in Logrono. All together, I walked more than 650 km. The landscapes I discovered were breathtaking and changing everyday. I met crazy people on the way. People with a great soul. I took photos every minute. I'll share the best of them shortly. I did this walk for spiritual reasons only and because I needed a break to think about my future.
The Way of St. James has existed for over a thousand years. It was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during medieval times, together with Rome and Jerusalem. Here below is the "Compostela", a certificate of accomplishment given to pilgrims on completing the Way. I received it when I arrived at the Cathedral of Santiago. It's in Latin! Call me "Beniaminum" from now on! :)

A great looking pilgrim I met in front of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain) at the very end of my 700 km walk. His name is Zapatones and he is a well known living monument in Santiago. The scallop shell on the man's hat has long been the symbol of the Camino de Santiago. It is often found on the shores in Galicia. Over the centuries the scallop shell has taken on mythical, metaphorical and practical meanings, even if its relevance may actually derive from the desire of pilgrims to take home a souvenir.

I took this photo near Santiago de Compostela (Spain). This is the initial shot. As you can see in this case, I didn't change at all the composition of the initial shot. I just slightly modified the contrasts. I like how everything is inverted, even the perspective (the sheep in the background looking bigger than the 3 ones in the foreground...). The above photo has been shot with the Samsung NX11, provided by Samsung Electronics. Co., Ltd.
