Les objectifs des ateliers sont la réalisation de workshops, d’ateliers, d’animations et de formations dans les secteurs scolaires, la création de matériel pédagogique destiné aux acteurs des milieux éducatifs et culturels afin qu’ils puissent enseigner des concepts et processus créatifs en mettant notamment en exergue la créativité, l’utilisation des nouvelles technologies et une méthodologie d'enseignement attractive. Ben Heine a lancé un concept et une méthodologie d'enseignement artistique en 2010 intitulé "Pencil Vs Camera" qui mélange la photographie et le dessin de manière créative. Plus d'infos.

Ce concept a rapidement fait le tour du monde et est devenu populaire au point de toucher de nombreuses écoles du primaire et du secondaire un peu partout dans le monde. Plus d'infos.

Ce concept parle vraiment aux jeunes et offre de nombreux avantages: Il stimule leur imagination, il développe leur expression artistique, il les encourage à utiliser les nouvelles technologies et les motive à partager, communiquer et commenter leurs idées. Et bien sûr il leur enseigne l'ABC du dessin et de la photographie. Plus d'infos.

Les élèves peuvent le découvrir et le pratiquer au travers d'ateliers distincts ou en association à d'autres cours (de langue, d'histoire, de géographie, de mathématiques etc). La méthode est devenue, en quelques années, une partie intégrante des cours de nombreux professeurs. Plus d'infos.

Ce projet pédagogique attractif a déjà fait ses preuves à de multiples reprises et il est déjà mis en place à l’international en partenariat rapproché avec des écoles au Canada, en France, en Angleterre, en Chine, en Equateur et en Belgique. Plus d'infos.

Cette méthode permet entre autre aux professeurs (d'art mais aussi de morale, de religion, de philosophie, d'informatique, de langue etc) de discuter en classe des différences entre la fiction et la réalité, entre le dessin figuratif et imaginatif, de l'utilisation des nouvelles technologies, de la photo, du dessin ; d'ouvrir des débats avec les élèves de manière ludique et accessible sur des thématiques importantes, d'analyser leur processus de création... Plus d'infos.

Le projet vise à d'aborder les notions centrales de créativité et d'imagination en tant que compétences spécifiques dans les pratiques communicationnelles des élèves en proposant une expression artistique unique et novatrice mélangeant photo et dessin (en ayant recours notamment aux supports numériques) et basées sur l'expérience des élèves ou des thématiques concrètes. Plus d'infos.

L'élève est placé au centre de son apprentissage. L'idée est donc de partir du vécu des élèves et de leur vision et faire de la pédagogie "expérientielle" sur des thèmes d'actualité ou de société. Plus d'infos.

Après la production artistique de l’élève et/ou de l'enseignant, les élèves mettront leurs travaux en commun afin d’en parler et d'apprécier leur effet et les différentes interprétations qui en découlent. Plus d'infos.

Pencil Vs Camera - 76

A sketch I made at Gyeongbokgung Palace in northern Seoul, South Korea. First constructed in 1395, later burned and abandoned for almost three centuries, reconstructed in 1867, then destroyed by Imperial Japan in the early 20th century, it was the largest palace of the Joseon Dynasty. It has been gradually restored back to its original form.

My new giant 3D drawing featuring a tiger and an owl in a dense forest. It is part of my "Pencil Vs Camera" series (the concept is reversed in this image, the only piece of reality in the composition being the human model...). The wild animals and the forest are actually anamorphic sketches drawn on a huge piece of paper in my studio, no more, no less than optical illusions.

A quiet tiger, a scary owl and an imprudent artist, maybe an unexpected trio. I took the photo (using a tripod and a self timer) and also made the giant sketch (handmade, as usual). Creative explosion, ideas, brainstorming, flexibility, technologies, energy and hard work! A great façade for an even greater working space! I made this image for VIP Offices, a fantastic and innovative agency for freelance people, based in Brussels. I took the photo and also made the sketch as usual. I know there are many elements on the piece of paper (more than usual), it's because this artwork is meant to be printed in a huge size.

Here is an interesting review I received for this picture on my deviantART account from Kalistina. I'm sharing it here below because I think it's a good analysis:

The Pencil Vs Camera series is an impressive (and widely acclaimed) collection of mixed media pieces, combining pencil drawing, photography and photo manipulation to make multiple realities collide in a single image.

Photography is a medium that deals with physical reality. Because it involves a lens mechanism to record the luminous trace of a physical object, it literally cannot create anything. Drawings, unlike photography, deal with abstract realities. They’re not bound by existence, plausibility or chromatic aberrations; their only limit is their artist’s mind and their ability to convey the images they imagine to the medium they’re drawing on (be it a piece of paper, a wooden plank or a computer). By essence, many drawings deal with the creation of something new, whereas photography focuses on (re)presentation of something that already exists.

(...) I feel Pencil Vs Camera is a perfect concretization of this ontological fact. The way Ben uses pencil drawings to introduce extraordinary elements to the otherwise believable physical reality he initially photographed, specifically interests me because it’s trans-medium. The resulting pieces are neither drawings, photographs or photo manipulations - they’re above this categorization.

In Pencil Vs Camera 71, we see the façade of a building get blown open by a man in a suit’s punch, opening the way for countless objets in what looks like a creative explosion. The contrast between the building’s relatively conservative structure and the runaway creations makes me think of what I feel art should thrive to become - a disturbance to the spectators’ otherwise ordinary lives.

In the main character, the one punching the wall out, I see a successful artist bound by none of the usual rules of society - be it money, masks or work. I also see a creative genius, infecting the world with new concepts, new perspectives, new ideas.

Considering the fact that this image is dedicated to a creative environment for freelancers (who typically refuse the usual constraints of society), I can’t help but feel this is an open invitation to individual empowerment. And I’m all for that.

Naughty little rabbit with something in mind! 1) Know your goal 2) Undress the subject 3) Jump on the subject 4) Keep the carrot for later... Model: Suzy. I initially wanted to draw Jessica as a princess with a giant crown toad in her hands but I rather decided to draw this naughty bunny, because I always wanted to do something funny and special for "Pencil Vs Camera - 69", in a cute way. To be completely honest, this image has a symbolic meaning. It's not what you think, it represents something else for me.

I took this photo in Anderlecht, Belgium, not so long ago... I also made the drawing as usual. Music, music, music... Here is a bird with some electronic power! I took the pic and made the sketch as usual. I was sitting outside of a restaurant in Lisbon, Portugal. Several birds came and moved from one chair to another hoping to draw my attention to receive some food (I gave them all my bread, lol). King of the place, here is the mighty lion! I left the drawing unfinished on purpose (I wanted to attract the attention on the lion's face mainly). The little creature behind the lion is a kind of troll or maybe a ghost, completely mad and desperate because the feline is so much better and faster. Some innovations in the series: drawing with colors and black paper... This is somehow the "beta version" of "Pencil Vs Camera". Many more works coming soon.
