Heart-Shaped Face Barn Owl

Photo by Ben Heine: Cute heart-shaped face barn owl in a Belgian forest
Cute heart-shaped face barn owl in a Belgian forest © 2013 Ben Heine

A very cute and colorful heart-shaped face barn owl I found in a forest near where I live in Rochefort. I took this photo with the Canon 5D Mark II. You can view my other pictures of animals at this link.

More info: Barn owls (Tytoninae) are one of the two families of owls, the other being the true owls. They are medium to large sized with large heart-shaped faces and long legs. They live in a wide range of habitats from temperate latitudes to the tropics. They are mostly nocturnal, and generally non-migratory.

Pencil Vs Camera - 74

Ben Heine Art - 3D Drawing - Pencil Vs Camera - Tiger Owl and Artist in Forest - 2013
Pencil Vs Camera - 74 © Ben Heine| Buy a print
My new giant 3D drawing featuring a tiger and an owl in a dense forest. It is part of my "Pencil Vs Camera" series (the concept is reversed in this image, the only piece of reality in the composition being the human model...). The wild animals and the forest are actually anamorphic sketches drawn on a huge piece of paper in my studio, no more, no less than optical illusions.

A quiet tiger, a scary owl and an imprudent artist, maybe an unexpected trio. I took the photo (using a tripod and a self timer) and also made the giant sketch (handmade,
as usual). View the sketch in progress and some details here below to understand how it is made. New: find some prints of mine for sale (including the above picture) or some fun products and gifts with many of my other designs.

Lion Walk Animation

Another recent hand drawn animation (I drew each frame one by one, there are about 3,000 frames in total). I made this animation in a rather minimalist way. It's meant to be a simple video clip for my music (original musical composition as well) You can watch the above video in HD at this link (via Facebook) and view photos of the sketches and music in progress here below (26 pictures)...

This is a quick Flesh and Acrylic demo I made for the Catalan public television "TV3" (in Spain). The work in progress was filmed and the video report was broadcasted the 25th of November 2011 along with a short documentary about Art and Surrealism in Belgium. As always in "Flesh and Acrylic", I worked in a wild and intuitive way. Model: Julia. She is a journalist and a model in her spare time...I left the newspapers in the background on purpose.

A crazy and contrasted duo.
Black and white, wild and quite.

85% of madness, a fantastic model, 15 liters of acrylic... Model: The one and only Caroline Madison. I took the picture with my new Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I love it! As you can see in the making here below, I've used different light sources, that's why the shadows go in different directions. I need to get more powerful spotlights for my studio... It's already my 3rd Flesh and Acrylic work with Caroline. See the other ones.

This is the second part of the project I worked on 2 weeks ago. Wild part... Featuring Caroline Madison, a great and hard working model. The above photo has been shot with the Samsung NX11, provided by Samsung Electronics. Co., Ltd. (See the first part).

A picture I took in a parc in Brussels a few days ago. I know, it's
quite a strange title for such an image. It is dedicated to someone.

This is another circlist creation. I wanted it to look a bit "wilder" than my previous circlist works. I digitally applied each circle on a black background (I made them appear wider, so it was a bit faster than usual) and I didn't really pay attention to symmetry or details.

More info on my circlist paintings can be found HERE

FYI, the original version of this image is huge (11 000 pixels wide, 300 dpi). If you wish to have any more information, if you simply want to download and own the original version of this work or if you even want to have your own face portrayed in this style, please contact info@theartistery.com

Take Me
As I Am

By Peter S. Quinn

Take me as I am let me be a twist
A carefree word here to adhere
For knitting down the gist
Inside heart-roots gone austere

Like a love that begins from inside
And brings out a beautiful bright
Like a ray that in a shade might hide
Or a beam in an evening's flight

Give same love life’s giving about
Though sideways are with bare trees
And the morning is still in its doubt
For the coming of summer's breeze
.
Hello Lady Red
.
Like Petals
of the Rose

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Something is going to somewhere around
Everything is drifting to the time
Feelings and sorrows so often in rime
Inside your touches so much there to be found
You are a heart that is throbbing always on
Following footsteps of love many ways
Everything coming from tinctured plays
Until those moments are forever gone

You and I just two persons far apart
On to the blueness of our daybreak's song
From our beginning where we did both start
With full of hopes and thoughts still we long

Love comes close - we sometimes are one
Like petals of the rose in the morning sun

Get On Through
.
Always Be a
Beginner to See

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

You, always be a beginner to see
The runaway in motions close from you
The street's not empty if there is a tree
Shadowing your footsteps from the sky blue
Each of your moments is nearly not fed
Like rain bowing colours in cyberspace
The prism of few: yellow, purple, blue, red
Coming and visiting each of your place
Come see a few pictures there in your mind
Experience passing longitude in line
If I'm not wrong and you're not colour-blind
It's hard all those shades clearly to define
Closed book gets open a guide to the way
How you each moment meet with a new day.
