In Memory of Nelson Mandela

In memory of Nelson Mandela. My small tribute for a hero. RIP. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.

This portrait is only made with "flat circles" on a black background. Every circle has a single color, a single tone and a single size. I placed each circle one by one. It's a time consuming method. One week of intense work for this portrait. Please see some details and the work in progress here below. Another photo of the beautiful Majka Malíková (from Slovakia). I met her almost by coincidence at the beginning of my trip in Spain, just before heading to Santiago de Compostela. She used to be a gymnast. There is no trick. She really jumped that high! She is so impressive! I'll post more photos soon. Thanks for watching. A landmark moment in railway history, October 1883 saw the launch of the original Orient Express. Leaving from Paris, it steamed through the Alps, Budapest and Bucharest to Constantinople. Packed with grandees and unheard of luxuries such as soap by the washbasins, reports swiftly came back of its exquisite food, excellent wine and impeccable service. This legendary train continued to carry kings, celebrities and shady characters between great European cities up until its 1920s heyday. Many of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express's current carriages date from this era (read more).

Freedom is not far, make a wish... I intended to represent a girl walking above clouds from one pyramid's top to another. I wanted to express a dream I had recently. I hope you can feel it too. This is a picture I took from a plane a few weeks ago when I traveled to Italy. I also made the quick sketch. "If you can dream it, you can do it" is a famous quote by Walt Disney... I took the photo in Greece (at the Ancient Thera, an antique city located at the top of Messavouno mountain in the island of Santorini) The stairs are part ot the ruins found there. There was a spectacular view down to the sea. I also made the drawing showing an orca escaping from a "frame in a frame", a way out to another universe, which is hold by Mickey Mouse, the famous character created in 1928 by Walt Disney.
